Rotary Auto Association and its objectives.

Birth of the Association

While the Rotary Auto Association was started as a Non Governmental Organization, its main objective was to teach the Auto Technicians and Motor mechanics the value and to safeguard the electronic and computerized components in modern vehicles which prevent belching and poisonous gas emissions and protect the environment from pollution.

Some of the activities implemented successfully so far towards this objective are shown below. Although an NGO we have not accepted any financial support or aid locally or from abroad, and all our expenses so far have been met solely by its directors.

Rotary Auto-Training Institute

Under this scheme we have trained over 10,000. Persons so far, and about 90% of these have obtained jobs abroad. The high skill exhibited by these trainees abroad, have demanded for more trained personals from our institute. Although our wish was to train sufficient personals needed to meet the demand of our country, we still train excessive personal to seek employment aboard and earn foreign exchange for our country

Use of electronic and print media to impart training

Using of electronic and print media to impart training to a large number of Motor -mechanics and Auto owners spread all over the Island is another of our venture in this field.
Publishing of articles and auto news in the weekend news papers like "Silumina" and "Vidusara" ( An Educational Journal) for the past 05 years continuously under this scheme. Popular technological programs have been relayed through "Tharu" FM and "Lakhanda" radio stations. Several program's through "Derana" and "Sirasa" Television channels have been telecast.

Our association stands proud to be 01st in introducing teaching and imparting Auto technological knowledge via print and electronic media.
Among the above programs the most successful was the 1 1/2 hour "Lakhanda Riyasaki" radio program from 9.30pm to 11.00pm on Tuesday's each week for the past 04 years which was supplemented by techno illustrations in the "Diwaina" and "Lankadeepa" Newspapers of the day which enables the listener to grasp the knowledge easily. For those who cannot get the news papers in outstations we post these illustrations freely beforehand. The popularity of this program within 03 to 04 months time prompted us to publish a monthly journal called "Lakhanda Riyasaki" which has published about 50 edits so far.
